can not get a boot disk for my apple as i need to somehow install adt to load games on to some disks. how do you setup the modem on an apple //c it tells me to use hyperterminal to transfer the dos software to the apple anyone know how to do this or anyone have a boot disk for apple i can get or any help would be great i want to get this working befor thanksgiving here in the us. email is djflashnack25@yahoo.com or jtrevathan@walkerinfo.com

how long does it take for adt pro to send the file over to the mac //c now it told me that i just turn on the apple and you get a prompt all i get is check disk drive if i do a fast restart i get a prompt with this ] and i did the in#2 and then ctrl A 14b and then i send prodos as i do that i get request send bootstrap data and a blue line starts to move very very slow does that meen it is working or not as the page told me that as soon as you hit enter there would be text entered in to the apple did i do somthing wrong please let me know someone as i need this machine to work as soon as i can with in 2 weeks thanks any more help is great. and to clarify the machine i have is a apple 2 c or //c not an //e or other apple system but it is just a //c thanks.
Stupid question, but. . . . . . .You do have the Apple IIc and the Mac hooked together with some sort of null modem cable, correct? If you're following the instructions on the ADTPro site exactly you should end up with a working copy of PRODOS on the IIc and a copy of ADTPro to use to transfer disks between the two computers.

as far as i know the nullmodem cables does work as i used to have a copy of adt on my apple but the disks and games got put in the trash by my mother so im trying to get dos back on to a disk and adt to get my games back and working the cable works i just dont get anything on the apple computer the computer im sending the adt software from is a pc im going from a windows machine with xp to the apple //c but as i said nothing happens on the apple could the cable be bad
also do you have the IIc end of the cable plugged into the modem port? I realize this is another stupid question but I just want to make sure you have the cable plugged into the right spot on the IIc, because if it's in the printer port nothing will happen.

When trying to load some games I've transferred from PC to iie using Null Modem cable they say they can't find PRODOS.
Can you transfer just PRODOS and make a bootable copy of it ? and if so how do you then load these games after loading PRODOS ?
Games are generally put on bootable disks, unless they're so large they require you to copy them to a hard drive. This happened sometimes with the IIgs, but not so much with the IIe. It's unusual you would have a game disk that wasn't bootable.
When you get a message, "can't find prodos," it means that the disk is formatted for ProDOS but doesn't have all the pieces it needs to boot. You could transfer a ProDOS boot disk from somewhere like Asimov:
ftp://ftp.apple.asimov.net/pub/apple_II/images/masters/prodos
and once you boot from that, you can swap disks and do a CATALOG on your mystery disk.
If you're using ADTPro, you can boot that disk and quit from the "welcome to the distribution" screen to an Applesoft prompt and do a CATALOG from there.
i just got hyperterminal to work it sends text to the apple but then i get the syntax error after a little bit of the dos file do i have the modem settings right or not and what am i doing wrong i had it to a point where i did not get the syntax error. but know disk was made thanks again for any help
Here's what I think we know, based on all your posts in various places:
Host: XP
Apple: IIc (not IIc+)
Unsure of:
Likely null modem with DIN5 cable
Unknown connection on XP (could be USB with an adapter, could be RS-232)
Feel free to fill in any details you can.
Step 1: Make sure you're connected as illustrated here:

The IIc has an SSC-compatible "card" in virtual slot 2, so just follow those directions. One thing you've mentioned a couple of times that is incorrect: you said you typed 16B after the IN#2 prompt. But there is no command 16B - the highest command number is 15B. And the directions tell you to use 14B, not 16B. So again, go slowly and carefully - IN#2, Ctrl-A, 14B. Then follow with the rest of the instructions.
i send over the dos 3.3 using what you said when it is done entering in to the apple i do a init hello and i get a disk error i/o what is wrong here is the disk drive bad and can i use an external apple disk drive if the one on the apple does not work thanks sorry for all the posts i just want to get adt and dos working so i can play my games.

Yes, if you have one - you can plug another drive into the IIc's port.
by the way does anyone know a game for the apple i used to play it backwhen it is a puzzle type game where you try to arange the diforent layers of cake to get it stacked up right from small layer to big layer thanks i also put in a new drive from the external one and it worked.
