So What are you guys collecting these days?

I have been collecting macs for a few years now, while I still snag some machines offered to me (mostly ppc and a couple compacts) I don't seem to be looking very hard to finish my machine collection (still want a 9600, 9150, II, IIx).

Most of what I have been looking for are Nubus cards I don't have, and video editing setups for Nubus and early ppc machines. Also trying to finish up my Mac Apps/Utils collection (so I have legit copies of everything I would want to use).

What are you guys looking for?

Collecting ??

Not much anymore. As I sold off most of my collection and what didn't get sold was given away. There was a lot of PPC machines and later OS and Application software. I had several of the FatMac's. The 128's, a couple of the SE's and 8 or 10 SE 30's most of which got parted out. 6 or so of the CC's one in the OEM box.

I had 5 or so of the Quadra 700's two 840AV's an 800 and one 950. several of the Pizza box Mac's 6100's and more that particular series Mac. PPC powermacs from the 7200's to the 6500's, Beige G3's and So many of the B&W G3's that what wasn't sold or given away was stripped for scrap. More of the Duo Powerbooks than I could count. I can say the same thing about the 520's and 540c's.

There's a lot more I'm sure I'm forgetting but at present I have a Umax S900D and a PowerMac 9500/180MP that has had the CPU upgraded to a 225MHz Dual CPU plus my current working machines. Two QS's and a couple of G4 iMac flat panels and a fairly recent PC for the PC Games

Honda single-cylinder 4-strok

Honda single-cylinder 4-stroke motorcycles.

Just bought my third one since June.
Started with a 1969 CM91, which is now sold and going to be in a TV commerical; a 1971 CT-90, which was a barn find. It's now running but spews oil... Needs new piston rings. Finally, my newest toy is a 1976 CB125S, which is the most complete and ironically was the least expensive. Thank Google Maps and some detective work to let me get to the seller's house before he'd even checked responses to the for sale ad.

I did just get a 17" Studio Display with its stupid proprietary connector and a set of Apple Pro Speakers for my G4.

Haven't come across any 68K stuff in ages, and mostly purged my collection except for an LC with Transwarp accelerator, a 475, the 840av and I think there's still a IIci and an Q630 wrapped up in the crawlspace.

My father-in-law recently wen

My father-in-law recently went halfway across the nation to pickup a very good shape '75 or '76 Honda 400 four for just $300 or so. Even adding in travel costs from KC to N.J. it was a good deal. I just need to learn to ride it, then maybe I can buy it from him to start my little collection.

Honda single-cylinder 4-stroke motorcycles.

I used to have two different honda "trail 90's" they were pretty fun for being so slow. '70 and a '71, both WAY older than me haha.

Collecting...What a Concept!

I have stopped buying complete Apple II and Mac units and am just looking for cards, adapters, and other parts that are scarce and hard to find.

Lately though I have had this interest in gathering a few more different types of old computers: Commodore 64, Trash-80, etc. just for the fun of it.

Having been a tinkerer all my life, being able to tear things apart and then figure them out and put them back together helps keep me sane. lol

Seconded. I'm having a hard time thinking of a computer that I have had that I haven't taken a screwdriver to or pulled a panel or two off of. Or even a car.

I have stopped buying complete... Mac units

I too have stopped. But my reason was USPS. Gone are the days where one can ship a heavy Mac system from the USA to Japan via reasonable Surface shipping. You now get the knife in the belly for Air Mail Only shipping.

Of course, if you live in the US and wish to purchase equipment from Japan, Japan Post still has heart enough to allow you to receive the merchandise via inexpensive Surface. But since Japan has traditionally followed in the footsteps (for better and worse) of the USA, I doubt Surface will last forever. Take advantage of it while it lasts.

My Mac collection has slowed

My Mac collection has slowed down A LOT. While I haven't gotten rid of most of it yet, the new ones coming in are few and far between. Basically I won't buy anything thats not a G4 or newer, and I wont take anything unless its REALLY cheap. I am in the market for a Newton Message Pad 2000 or 2100. Thats about it though, its only a matter of time before my collection ends up at the computer recycler along with all the other iCrap thats accumulated over the years. I'll keep some of my favorites, but most of it will all have to go.
