Apple ADB keyboard and mouse with PowerMac G3\300

high guys, I'm looking to buy a PowerMac g3 off of eBay, and I was wondering if my Mac Classic keyboard and mouse would work with it? I am eventually going to buy a apple USB keyboard and mouse but the ADB one is temporary. I know it has an ADB port thats why I was wondering.

Thanks

No problemo. ADB is ADB. Does your classic have the short keyboard? I've always liked the ADB keyboard with the wire coming out from the middle and still use it for my G3's. I like the on/off button on the ADB keyboards. There's no on/off button on newer USB keyboards. in my opinion, you don't gain a whole lot from the Apple USB keyboard except the volume and CD tray buttons. The volume control is nice, but not crucial, and the G3's and early G4's still have the button on the front for opening the CD tray. I had to drill a hole in my Quicksilvers to access the CD button with a thin tool to open it without the keyboard. An idiotic situation, I'd say. But on my G4 I've got a Macally Icekey USB keyboard, which I love, and does everything the Apple keyboard does.

No conflict at all. I wasn't

No conflict at all. I wasn't aware of the F12 key working the CD tray, but yes, I see it does now that I've tried it. So if you stay with the ADB keyboard you get the best of both worlds--the on/off button (triangle key in far right corner on ADB pro keyboard) and the CD tray button (F12). Now if someone knows how to make a couple function keys work the volume, you'll have it all in one keyboard, except the ergonomics you like. Those ergonomic keyboards, does anyone swear by them? I've never really used one. The production of them seems to come and go so I got the impression they're not as helpful as they look.

Oh, and, sorry to bring this up, but wouldn't it help us here better if you and makillik chose different avatars, and others on Applefritter as well? IIRC, lots of people are using the happy face Mac. That kind of defeats the whole idea of having avatars, which is, besides self expression, being able to read through a thread quicker by recognizing immediately who's commenting. I was confused for a moment here who was speaking.
