is it a classic or classic II

is it a classic or classic II? the classic has a built in ROM bootdisk w/ system 6. Its enough to do a 7 install over apple talk, (local talk) Format disk, etc. the Classic II you need a working hard disk, a boot disk, and the system 7.5.3 install files from apple. You have quite the chicken and egg syndrome if you can write startup floppies on a mac or PC.

The software on the drive has nothing to do with it ...

What is the model name, printed on the front of the machine:

Macintosh Classic: (1990-1992), model number M0420
8 MHz Motorola 68000 processor; 1 MB (shipped) to 4 MB (max) RAM; supports System 6.0.7 through 7.5.5; 24 bit addressing; no FPU

Macintosh Classic II: (1991-1993), model number M4150
16 MHz Motorola 68030 processor; 2 MB (shipped) to 10 MB (max) RAM; Macintosh System 6.0.8 through 7.6.1; 24 or 32 bit addressing; optional 68882 FPU

They have similar case designs and similar names, but they are substantially different machines.

I think

I think its the original classic. Would it say Classic II if it was a II? It was made in '92
