Look Closely...

Another exciting episode of CSI:Cupertino...
"The Faraday components show signs of distress, as does what appears to be the floppy drive mounting plate; it also shows sign of being bent. The rest of the case itself (look in the box) clearly is bent, and the PCB board just next to it appears to be broken. You say that you found this alongside the road? While I don't doubt that the Mac was partially dismantled prior to this, it appears that Isaac Newton did the rest of the work. After all, didn't he get started by seeing an Apple fall?"

Whoooooo are you? Who who who who...

Some machines ...

Having worked as a tech for a few years, there are some machines that I wouldn't mind taking a 20 lb sledge hammer or baseball bat to. Certain performas and iBooks come immediately to mind. I dunno, some machines weren't particularily brilliant (pretty much all but the 6400 come to mind) and thus not really worth saving.

Whodunnit?

Any sign that the pick-like object in the upper left corner with the pink bow and other wrapping was the murder weapon? Maybe it was ritualistic. Any symbols written in the mud?

Actually, I left behind a similar scene a few weeks ago when I found a 6200 on the side of the road. All I wanted was the IR and volume control unit so I could mount it in a Beige G3, and I wanted part of the frame that held the unit in place too, so I tore away Hulk-like at the cold metal.

I found an iMac DV on the side of the road yesterday. The third one in about year. They always have the same PAV problem, so now I have three sets of iMac DV motherboards and DVD drives. Thought I might make a halloween costume out of them. The motherboards kinda make an interesting hat.

I have a box of bad iBook logic boards

Last year, we cut some up and made christmas tree ornaments. This year, well, who knows. I still have that box of bits. One of these days I'll just throw em out.

That was no murder!

The HD is clearly missing, and no amount of smashing would open it up like a hatbox. That machine was picked by someone, and whether a Mac lover or a PC infidel, we can relax in that knowledge, she went to her reward unabused.

Road Apple

Looks like it commited suicide by jumping from a moving car. That's what usually happens when cross-breeding intel/motorola computers and a fax machine. They are just never quite "right".......

And if you are gonna pitch a Mac, that's one of the Road Apples to pitch.

Whenever I find something like this I always pop the little Apple logo out with a paper clip and stick it on an unsuspecting peecee users peecee. Just to class it up a little......

Actually, it looks like a QDI motherboard using an Intel 430TX chipset. I had one of those a loooong time ago.

Yes, I'm a geek. Smile
