Using Seagate Hard Drive

You mean it's in an external SCSI enclosure? You're not putting it into the Apple II case?

I don't see that model on Seagate's website. Is that one of the old full-height harddrives? As long as it will fit, there should be no problem, and as long as you've got the interface. If it's got the old 50 pin connector, just plug it in. If it's got a 68 or 80 SCA connector, you'll need an an adapter. You'll need to make sure the jumpers are set to an available SCSI ID, "Force SE" if it's got a jumper for that, and "turn termination on" (unless there's some other SCSI device at the end of the SCSI cable).

That's a lot of Gigs for that old computer, but I don't think there's any size limitation problem with even the old SCSI bus, but someone else may know better than I.

I don't know anything about these computers, so please correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't such an old system not have a filesystem that can access the full size of that hard drive?

Hawaii Cruiser, I believe you're thinking of the Mac II series. The Apple IIgs does not have onboard SCSI and does not have Nubus.

gobabushka is correct about the 32 MB limit on ProDOS. What you'll probably want to do is create a half dozen or so ProDOS partitions, then make one large HFS partition.

Which brings up a question I always wanted to ask. Why do they use // instead of II for the Apple II series?

the apple iigs is the last in the apple ii line of computers. it was pretty revolutionary with its 16 bit processor, gui, and the first apple product with adb.
