I've modified a Macintosh IIci case to house a Micro ATX PC. A lot of plastic had to be removed to make everything fit. The floppy slot has been widened to serve as a CD-ROM slot with a full-sized slot-loading 24x CD-ROM drive. I even themed the Linux OS with something Mac OS9-ish. I would have gone for something more like classic Mac OS, but I had already started working on this one. I'm quite proud of this one, but sadly it has to be disassembled for parts. At least I got some good photos of it first. Hopefully I'll be able to rebuild it some day.
I've included some photos. Screenshots will be in the next post.
I didn't realize that you can't upload more files in a comment, so I created a new topic for the scrreenshots:

do we get Interior screenshots with this too?

Just wondering how you shoehorned it in there.
Gyar... I forgot those. I'll have to make ANOTHER topic... ._.
just post them here. Shouldn't be a problem. Besides, posting another topic makes it a mess for the admins to deal with.
I can't upload them to applefritter without creating a new topic.
However, I'll use imageshack.
Here they are:

that is a mess! I also hope you are going to get more cooling in there, or you are going to have a fried CPU. That wouldn't be good
It actually runs really cool because of the vent design in the top part of the case. It ran for two days without cooking and wasn't very hot.
I'll have to say that it looks pretty nice considering. The IIcx/ci cases were pretty great for ventilation. I know that some will get snarky about putting a PC into a vintage mac case, but don't worry about them. There were more than enough IIci's made. I generally come across them fairly frequently.
actually, ive got to say that from some of the mods ive seen / done, that isn't too bad looking at all. Ive seen MUCH worse... and as far as heat... look at the amount of light coming into that case... thats almost the same as putting the bare components on the table with no case.
That should run pretty cool.
however, i probably would have gone with a mini-itx just for size constraint reasons.....
(hmm... actually, an intel mac mini would fit PERFECTLY... with external HDs even... then you could triple boot... run whatever os you want...)
looks nice... what are the specs?
OP: you can post pics in the thread by wraping the url in the IMG tag.
Odd.. I tried that. Just without capitalization. I guess it has to be "IMG" rather than "img"
just remember to bracket it and close it:
[ i m g ] insert URL here [ / i m g ]
I've used BBC many times before. Trust me. The thing is that I copied the lowercase version of the code from imageshack out of laziness and it didn't work, even though I checked the formatting. I might have missed a character or something, though.... for all five lines.
Anyway, thanks for trying to help regardless.
Let's get back on topic, now. The machine has a Celeron D processor (I've already forgotten the speed) and 256MB DDR (speed also forgotten). Everything is onboard and the ports on the back were connected via various extension cables.
well. Thats kind of cool.
no one ever deviated from the topic, but like i said, thats kind of cool.
