WTB and Q's for logic board to 1Ghz 12" PB

Hi all,

the logic board on my 1Ghz 12"PB needs replacing and I am on the search and hoping someone might be able to help. It appears the power connector and the black data cable connector on the board have been damaged, and its virtually impossible for me to repair, soldering is not my cup of tea, especially fine soldering which is required. I may need to get someone to look at it but I suspect a replacement board is inevitable

So in the off chance there is a lonely but functional 1Ghz 12" PB logic board, looking for fun - then, I have a very good home

Also I have been told that the 867Mhz board off the 12" PB MIGHT BE interchangeable. Does anyone have experience or know that it could be used??

your thoughts are most welcomed
Sam

logic board interchangeability

Protocol6v is spot on in the fact that the 867 mhz and 1ghz boards are different. The major differences between the two are USB (1.1 on the 867, 2.0 on the 1ghz and above), and the fact that the 1ghz has mini dvi instead of mini vga (which the 867 board has).

With that being said, the only real differences between a 1ghz and an 867 are the logic board and the bottom case (to go with an 867 board, you'll need the bottom case to go with it). As for upgrade options, the highest speed board that your PowerBook will take is a 1.33 ghz from the April 04 revision. (the january 05 1.5 ghz revision uses a different top case, keyboard, and has a slightly different internal structure)

eBay will likely be your best bet, save for someone on here having one. Look for 1.0 and 1.33 boards, and make sure that the seller includes a warranty on the board.

Hope I could be a help.

logic board

Hi all,

yep so far, the advice has been worthwhile. Infact, I didn't know I could use a 1.33 board! Thanks heaps iantm!!

Looks like the 867Mhzlogic board option is out of the picture.

If anyone has a spare board - I have a good home!
