Hey, ive finally decided to install Ubuntu on my pismo, and when I try to boot it, it just defaults to OS X. A while back, I replaced the DVD drive with a pioneer dvd burner, because the old drive died, so I don't have the old drive. I've tried also holding down option, when I do that, it starts to boot, but then the screen goes black and it just hangs. I've tried resetting the OF and the pram. Googling hasen't turned up anything. So any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Is it a burned copy, or a ShipIt pressed CD? Also, I have to ask: are you sure it's a PPC CD?
it is a burned copy, the cd is fine, and it shows up as bootable in the option key menu on startup. and yes, it is ppc
Is your Pismo running an upgraded CPU? I've read a few rumors that the 900MHz chips can be pretty flaky. Have you had other issues witht he machine being unstable before? From the stuff I've done on my B&W and my iBook, Ubuntu has been just fine. A few times I've had issues with slot-load iMacs, but it seems wiping the HDD and resestting stuff seemed to help. The issues generally were that the machine would spit out some OF error and stop trying to boot the CD.
I think its a display driver issue... Common on the Bondi iMacs too...
i was able to boot breezy badger before (livecd), are there any workarounds?
EDIT: I am right now downloading the breezy bader install cd, we'll see what happens with that!

A little OT, but how so? I've installed Ubuntu on several Bondi slot loaders and it's been fine out of the box for several generations. Or are you talking about the older tray loader?
The Bondi was the original (1998) tray-loading iMac. It preceded the "five flavors" tray-loaders by about a year.
The blue-ish slotloaders were not Bondi, they were either Blueberry or Indigo.
