almost done with the G3 project
i went from this:
to this:
to this:
and hopefully this:
with hopefully a light hack about the Drive bays, as i don't have the floppy bezel (nor will i) and don't want one (Apple floppy drives are useless under OS X)
I have an 80GB 133MB's IDE HDD, sadly, it's still on the 16MB's bus :(.
It's got 384MB Ram, 6MB VRAM, and a 300MHz B&W CPU with 512KB L2 (2:3 speed) clocked to 417MB. The Logic Board runs at 83MHz FSB. On the back, it's got the "wings" card (broken, but soon to be fixed)
It sports a 5-port USB 2.0 PCI Card, a D-Link 530TX+ 10/100 Ethernet Card. A PCI Bay Dual Exhaust Fan system. And a Fancy 2GB Jaz drive (and the DVD-ROM w/ RAM Read capabilities) on the internal SCSI.
I got on the external:
USB 2.0 10GB External Desktop drive (with blue LED's on three sides (Front, left side, right side)
USB 2.0 Laptop 20GB
100MB Iomega Zip drive (SCSI) on the external SCSI 5MB's Bus.
notice: it doesn't have the drives mounted. also, not all the bezels are on. This is soon to be remedied. I will give one last update on the thread once the finishing stuff arrived. I will later post a topic on the light hack, as well once again update this thread too for the last part.
Plans: I hope that one day, i will Paint the Tower a Matte Black. And make me "Overclocked G3" (basically, a charcoal G3 name on a white sticker, with a Gray watermark seal over the G3 logo, with the Letters: "O.C." at an angle.
thanks for looking!

just noticed
some of the images don't load under FireFox under OS X. I haven't tested it on firefox on a PC. I don't know how to remedy it. Sorry...
added a radeon 7000 Mac Ed.
I put one of the Radeon 7000 Mac Edition Video cards into my G3. It took my last of the 3 slots i had. all i can say is, amazing! my windows catch up! i can Play DVD's smoothely! I still got to get the Drive mounting brackets and the other bezels. and thank you macsane for helping with the project. I have a person to turn to when getting parts for this
G3 MT
An excellent project and I'll be anxious to see it when its finished and I'm glad I could help
yeah, right now there are only a few things missing
the bezels and the mounts. Once they get here, it will be nice. I thought of doing a paint job on it, but not sure what to use. I want a black paint job, and I ordered an "0v3r clocked" Sticky logo from the MegaTokyo Megagear store. It won't ship till the 25th as the Online Comic artist is going to be Otacon for the next week and is getting stuff ready. He also has to catch up on some other stuff. But, i am looking forward to getting the stuff and getting the system set up (as well as reading the new book
Pics are in!
I got the pics done today. These are the pics:
Front of the machine:
Notice that the Floppy Has been replaced by the Jaz Drive. The Jaz drive holds the Classic System folder for when i need to do stuff like reinstall OS X. This saves space on the initial drive.
This is the Back of the machine:
PCI slots go from top to bottom:
~D-Link 10/100tx+ Ethernet card~
~Belkin 5-port (4 External/1 internal) USB 2.0 Card~
~Radeon 7000 32MB Video Card. Allows me to play DVDs I love this most, as when i put it in my machine, i noticed a VAST speed up now that the windows don't lag and It takes a LOT off of the system. So, for $30 shipped, it was worth it. I am glad i moved out of the AIO design, or I would have to do the cable hack for the internal Video, something i wouldn't want to do.~
I have yet to try the new wings card. but it looks like it is in good shape and the audio works well. Thanks Macsane!
Oh, almost forgot, this is the inside of the MLB/Device area:
It's got a 80GB IDE drive in the drive bay above the PSU with the special mounting bracket. It makes it easier for me to fit stuff in the Case being able to move that out of the way.
Anyway, there are the pics, i will be putting up a designated site on my other website with the project
