Hey all:
Does anybody have an installer disk from a Fuji FinePix camera from which a disk image could be created and shared with me through the wonders of the Internet?
I bought a second-hand Fuji FinePix A210 camera not too long ago, and the thing works great, except for the fact that I can't connect it directly to my Mac to offload the pix from it (dang fine-pix that they may be) because the camera is not supported by iPhoto. My usual method is to pull the XD card from it, pop it into our other camera (an Olympus something-or-other) hook that up, and away we go. But alas the Olympus is taking a trip to Central America with my offspring, so that method is out for now.
I've dug through Fuji's website, and the only thing they offer is stinkin' updaters; no installers. I've poked around on the 'net, but haven't found anything at all. So without the installer CD, I'm kinda sunk. Unless a kind soul is willing to lend a hand. Or a disk image. If the image file is large, I've got some storage that I can make available through ftp; just let me know.

You could just buy a USB card reader. Probably would be faster than copying from the camera too.
I thought of that, but I'm cheap.
Also, one of the quirky things with this camera is that the door guarding the XD card is also the battery door. So when you pull the card out, it also disconnects the battery, which means I then gotta muck around resetting the clock. If I only pulled it out when the card was full, it'd be one thing, but I'm working on a project where I go out on a site, take a few shots, then need them on the computer right away (I had been using the Olympus for this, but for their trip the kids wanted the better zoom that it offers, and their needs outweighed mine. Such is the life of a Dad.)
Yeah, I know that's pretty small potatoes, and probably more than anybody wanted to read about (sorry; digital diarhea), but I'm thinking a direct connection camera to computer would be easiest/best.
I checked the Fuji site and the updater you mentioned updates the OS 9 EXif viewer to OS X Exif.
So if you have a dual boot machine download the OS 9 version of Exif and than download the updater. Or just use OS 9.
Do you have a dual boot machine OR since you didn't mention it, are you currently using OS 9?
Either way they have what you need unless you have an OS X only machine.
My fine pix was used with iPhoto all the time, wierd that yours will not work that way.....
Thanks for looking into that. Sorry; didn't mention that I'm using an aluminum PowerBook, so it's OS X (10.4.6) only. Also, what is Exif? I didn't see anything about that on the site. I was assuming that FinePix was the app that interfaces with the camera to unload and view photos.
Edit: Sorry; turns out that there are two ways into Fuji's support website, and the way I was going had different software for download. I did find the page you were referring to, downloaded the Exif software (which runs in Classic mode), then tried the FinePix 3.4 updater that I'd downloaded earlier; no go. I'm now downloading the 22MB FinePix version 3.3 updater, which says it'll update Exif and FinePix. Here's hoping!
iPhoto supports some models from Fuji, but for some reason the A210 isn't on the list. http://www.apple.com/macosx/upgrade/cameras.html
The Nikon D50 isn't on that list, and yet ours works perfectly with iPhoto.

I have an older yet related model, a Fuji 2600Z, and it works great with Linux, iPhoto, whatever. However, before it worked I had to:
Go into the setup menu, and make sure the USB mode is set to "DSC", not "PC-Cam". In DSC mode it just emulates a standard USB storage device, while in "PC-CAM" mode it requires a special webcam driver.
See if that's your problem. According to this review:

The webcam mode still exists, anyway.
