Color Classic screen problem

I have a CC with Mystix upgrade, OS 8.1 and the screen is starting to act weird. Screen has been ok, have some gaussing issues, but works, the other day screen starting flashing then it went black! Stayed like this for about 5 mins then it came back on. CRT going out? Can a new screen be bought to replace these easily?

Thanks all.

try the analouge/video&power

try the analouge/video&power board. that's a common problem in all in one machines, becuase one board doubles as 2 to save space.

check ebay for a new one. dont know if you can find one this day and age.

hope this helps.

Well it finally went bust las

Well it finally went bust last night, dark screen. I was able to slap the side a few times to bring it back but after a few it went out for good. I can turn up the brightness and see a faint image. So I need a new Analoge board? Can they be found easily? How about getting it repaired? Thanks

Just occasionally an unused service part a/b appears on eBay - but less frequently these days. Professional repair would be uneconomic, I fear. Best hope is to look out for a cosmetically disasterous CC with a decent display.

Well I unplugged it and moved

Well I unplugged it and moved it on thr floor to try to open it up but realized my special tool is at a friends, so I just gave it a little pat and hooked it up and now it works! Maybe it's fixable when I get to open it up!

Try this first...

Since you're "slapping" the case and getting the screen to come on, I'd think a cold solder joint is to blame. I'd try reheating every joint on the analog board and see if that fixes the problem. You can also try unplugging/replugging every wire connector going to and from that board. Perhaps the connection is a bit oxidized and if so the friction from removing and replacing the connectors may freshen things up. If it doesn't, you're not out anything but the labor.
