I have a 1ghz emac w radeon 7500 and am wondering if it is possable to swap logic boards with one from a 1.42 ghz w radeon 9600 and ddr ram? really wanting to do it as a graphics card upgrade but the usb 2.0 and faster ram would be nice too. if it is possable does anyone know where i can get one?

You would be better off selling your eMac and buying a 1.42 ghz eMac to replace it with. You may get lucky and even get one with applecare on it. Again, this is just my professional opinion as a apple tech/used market speculator.
What fun would that be. i'm just wondering if it's possable. i'll figure out the logistics later.
Anybody?
While not easy, it is possible to put the eMac logic board into a different case. I'm always a little leery of the all-in-one form factor because the monitor is always the weak link.
Anyway, Leo Bodnar has documented the process pretty well: http://www.lbodnar.dsl.pipex.com/eServer/index.html
i just want to know if i can just swap out logic boards. i want to swap my 1ghz radeon 7500 for a 1.25 ghz radeon 9200 or a 1.42 ghz radeon 9600. would it be plug and play or would it require other things. i found a 1.25 ghz radeon 9200 logic board for 140.00 but the ad said it can't go in any other emacs. is this true? i gotta believe somthing can be done.
Looked up the units and everything. Should be a straightforward plug and play affair. That being said, some things may need to be addressed - you will need to get a new 56k dial up modem - the design changed in that time. Also, none of your existing ram (pc133) will work on the one. Since you indicated that your eMac has the radeon 7500, I'm assuming that you have the 2003 model eMac (ati graphics, usb 1.1). The 1.25 ghz board uses pc2700, and has usb 2.0. With the exception of ram and modem, you're good.
the modem is a non issue as i use cable unless not having a modem screws the system up. the ram is no big deal as i can get 2 gig of pc2700 for what i spent for the 1 gig of pc 133( what a rip) thats in there now. i think i'll try it then. i'll let folks know how it goes. finally a way to upgrade the gpu in these things. ideally id like to get the 1.42ghz board with radeon 9600 but since these boards are so hard to come by and they're so spendy id settle for the 1.25 w/radeon 9200. still a major step up from the radeon 7500.
the guy that's selling the board says that it comes w/o the power button connector.
(It's on the down converter board in this model) and can't be used with other emac models. do you know if there is a workaround?
just solder cables t the power button pins on the board and run them out of the case then solder on a pushbutton switch-no biggie
I have switched logic boards on an emac from a 1.25 to 1.0 Gig switched ram and it powers up. Ican see the Hard Drive and a utility cd disk by holding the option key down at startup but will not boot from either. Any ideas on what I can try?
