You should be holding down the C key only.
1) Can you try with another bootable CD?
2) Is the CD a CD-R or RW? Some iMac drives are more finicky with burned discs

can i get a CD firm-ware update by burning the software on my IBM T40 [XP Pro}? i mean, will the imac read the code???
if so, where can i get the upgrade software? i turned the unit over and it says it's a 266Mhz - not a 400Mhz as i was led to believe - which the profiler confirms, and the machine ID is '406'....
