Would anyone with a B/W G3 mind measuring the dimensions of the motherboard? I only need the length and width not the thickness. I was offered a free B/W G3 from a friend who is upgrading to a quad G5, and I am eager to see if the motherboard from the G3 will fit in my ATX case.
Thanks!
11.5" x 10"
Thanks Hawaii Cruiser, it'll JUST fit by about 1cm.
Thanks!
just measured mine, I got 10 and 3/4" wide (back to front) by 11" long (from top to bottom)
hope that helps. -digital
except my previous short length was 1/4" too long. I just measured my extra Rev. 2 B&W motherboard that I keep in a box and it's 9.75" x 11.5". I don't know digitalman, maybe you've got a Rev. 1 and it's different, but that seems unlikely. Rev.2 has the 402 ATA chip.
My friends is a rev. 2 anyway so it should fit.
yeah, tis a rev 1
thanks iantm. J/K.
oh well, I will pick up a rev 2 board on ebay soon.
guess the rev 1 and rev 2 have different dimentions. wierd.
oh, I just OCed the G3 again to 450mhz (originally 350mhz), and downclocked the bus to 94.5mhz. Unfortunantly, it froze after 5 minutes, but the temp was 76F.
Rolled it back to the 400mhz OC and 100mhz bus. runs fine at that
but the temp is 93F. gets up to 100F flat, though. oh well.

It will be tight but it will fit no problem.
For the past year I have had a Gigbit G4 running in an ATX with no problems. The Gigbit G4 and G3 boards are the same size so you should not have a problem.
A tip for makeing the ATX I/O cover. Buy a peice of tin flashing at Home Depot. It costs about $.49 and is very easy to cut. I used a pair of angled dykes to cut it and it looks great.
I have a beige G3 motherboard in the ATX case right now and thats exactly what I did for the I/O panel except I used tin snips to cut it. It was probably harder with the tin snips but I'll try it with dykes this time. I have been using this beige as a server on Tiger. Lately it has been increasingly unstable and thats when I began looking for a b/w motherboard to slap in here and low and behold my friend has one he is going to give me when he receives his G5 quad. Wish I could throw a quad mobo in there
Thanks everyone!
