Hi. I was wondering if anyone here knows if there is any hack to allow the ibook display to shut off while leaving the ibook running. The reason I need to do this is because I know that it will mirror its display to an external one connected via vga. I also know that when I am playing games I get a craptacular framerate, most likely because its doing twice the work. I get a good framerate when its just my iBook display though. So basically I need to disable the built in display like the PowerBook does when u connect an external display. Is there any possible way to do this?! I dont care if the ibook is open or closed, so long as the image is only put on my external display and not the iBook one.

Thank you very much! It works great. Until that is, I try to play Raven Shield(what I needed this hack for). Heh, just my luck. It keeps crashing when i have the 1st display turned off. Any tips?
Sorry, no. In my experience, playing games this way doesn't work well.
Ok. So you reccomend just going with the origonal mirrored settings if I need to use the external display?
For games, yes (well, I really recommend just using the built-in display). For most other purposes, you can do more with the extended desktop that the above provides.
