I came up with this cool idea. I really can't believe that I've never heard of anyone else doing this.
I use my powerbook for mainly music playing and AIM. I like to run the powerbook with the lid closed. But it goes to sleep everytime I close it. I could have just relocated the magnet. but I didn't want to make it permanent.
I disassembled the book and soldered a switch onto the sensor for the lid and mounted it in the back where the reset instructions are. This way it can function normally when I want and in closed mode when I want. The best part is, WallStreets don't overheat when closed!
Or you could have installed the "Sleepless" application that does the same thing
I had sleepless installed but I found it to be annoying and unreliable. It kept asking me for my password, and on occasion it would go to sleep with it running. This switch works great, I've used it so many times in the past couple of days, I'm wondering how I lived without it!
pics please

Yeah! I'm curious about where you mounted the switch.
I missed that. I need glasses.
