Hi,
Recently i bought an iBook 800mhz laptop. It only has the 24x cd drive so i thought I should network it to my pc. After sucessfully doing this by googeling, everything worked well. Then I tried to connect to the internet and by doing so, it cut off my ethernet connection. So I tried again. you have to type in a completely different ip address into my pc every time and it really annoys me because i don't have time. I was hoping to share the internet connection with my pc also, but couldn't because it cut me off every time i connected. I am connecting them directly with an ethernet cable and am using Jaguar.

I would need some more info to troubleshoot this one. Which computer connects to the internet? How, dialup?

It is dialup via the in-built modem. And it is the mac connecting to the net. It is like it is sharing the same connection and has to switch ports when it needs to. Wierd.
Did you set up the Internet Connection Share in the System preferences?
This is supposed to profound or witty or both, but I don't feel like it.
I havent even set connection sharing up yet! What I meant was, I hope to do it, but can't because of the problem. And yes, i am using jag.

A few weeks back I put panther on and it is so much harder to share files, so i went back to jag. All my mates thing that panther was a backward step, jag is sooooooo much better.

I'd have to disagree with you there. I haven't had any problems with Panther so far, and it's Windows Networking seems pretty good to me. It's just a matter of setting it up correctly.
I'm not sure why you would have a problem with your modem while connected to ethernet offhand. I would have to crawl around your network settings to figure that one, I think.

Nice. Well, 9/10, when I work on windows networking, it's user error. Windows 95/98/ME were bad with networking, but 2000 and XP are *Good* as far as being reliable. It's most likely your settings that are screwed up, and since you never told us in detal what they were so we could help ya, then I'm putting my money on good 'ol user error. Oh, and can we quit using PeeCee? It's friggin' pc. Windows box. x86. Whatever. Using 'PeeCee' makes you loose a point or two on the respect scale, IMHO.
