hi, i need some guidance! basically i have just bought a blueberry ibook clamshell but would like to modify the shell maybe to transparent or another color.
i have read that i cannot strip the paint of this ibook because the white colour of it is through the plastic? as such i will have to try and get a shell that allows for this. i have heard that the tangarine ibook is the only one that can do this to or can the later ibooks be stripped also? basically what ones allow for this?
regarding the coloured parts of the ibook i.e. hinge covers, battery cover etc can these be made transparent on any ibook clamshell or do i have to buy transparent bits? i pretty want the entire thing to be see-through until i choose a paint colour! thanks in advance
They're not painted, they have coloured plastics. You can't take any of the colour off them. That "clear" look happens when you remove the metal shields under the case, which is not the best idea, and doesn't change the actual colour of the plastics at all.
If you want to change its colour, you can only paint the outside, which wouldn't look so hot.

I just ran the bottom case of a blueberry thru my table saw the other day. The colored part is colored rubber. There is semi-clear plastic under it. Though it is about half as thick. Probably be a bitch to get off as well.
cheers
Yikes! Why would you want to do something to so cruel to to your blueberry iBook? Perhaps you just haven't been properly introduced? It is without reservation that I provide this wonderful...
