Next Gen game consoles will kill mac/pc gaming??

While looking at the tech specs of the Xbox 360, PS3 and the Revolution, those specs could kill and Mac or PC computer, even for the next few years! Does this mean the end of PC/Mac gaming?

Now Way

even though the Xbox 360, PS3 and the Nintendo Revolution specs might beat the PC/Mac at this time. pc/mac still have some great game titles and the best thing is you can use the computer for multiple reasons eg Word Processing and imagine playing simulation games without a mouse

3 PowerPC core?!?!

The three PPC core 360 is going to have to wait until the mac or pc has three cores to even be close to being beat. Plus all of the good games are for consoles. AND they take forever to get to the mac/pc(not counting DOOM 3).

Weighing the sides...

is that gaming machines are soley made to run games. There are no restrictions on the system as it does not use a processor intensive OS. So most games are better on the systems.

One thing I see not going to "that side" is games like Flight Simulators (not just M$) another thing is "The Sims". or anything that requires a mouse. Yeah, sure you can have a system that costs you $400 AND a big screen to play the newest games. But having a full featured PC allows you to do more things. And PC's are not so far off in games from consoles.

But there simpy are things that a Gaming machine CAN'T do. Most of them are Java specific games on the Web. Or anything that requires a Web browser to play. I play a game that requires that you have a web browser, as it is writen solely in Java. also, anything that requires a mouse to play, would be like crap on a Gaming system. Imagine, trying to get a curser to the other side of the BSS (Big-Screen System) and do it quickly enough and with such precision, that you don't interupt game play.

What about a lot of strategy games. Tropico and Tropic 2. Or Myst series games. Or Civilization.
It kinda depends what you play. I can't justify spending the money, as I don't play many fast-paced games (or am interested in it) But, I can justify building a home PC for playing the strategy games AND Fast pace games, as it would both play good on a full PC but both will not play on a console.

so when you weigh the sides, you should be asking: Will Past pace shooters/sports games go to Gaming consoles. the answer is Yes.
But there are a lot of games that would be less than desirable to play on a console.
So, not ALL gaming will be done on consoles, as there are some that just will not work

1 more thing

How the heck are they gonna keep a triple-core CPU cool, when it takes a HUGE box with 8 fans to cool on a mac?

They can do this because they

They can do this because they are not the same processors used in G5s. The 360s use three PPC970 variants that, among other things, can only process 2 theeads at once and don't have out-of-order instructions.

Actually, they do make The Sims for the console. There is "The Sims", The Sims:Breakin' out" and "The Urbz: the sims in the city".

Plus, the only next gen' game I see on a computer is Quake 4

I have not even found a emulator for this gen systems that are even close to the real system. (Mind you, I'm on a 2.3 ghz dual g5 w/ 6 gigs of ram) They are all crap. Only PSone, N64 and Gameboy emulators are good.

:p

Duh, stupid me! Any game system emulator from the N64/PSone era and back is ok. Never has a problem with any. Even the Atari 2600 and Comadore 64.
