My G5 doesnt like me

Hi Can any 1 help i have owned my imac G5 since jan, and have had no real problems with it until now. I am using it manily for music production running the sequencing package 'Digital Performer'. i up graded to a newer version 4.5 a week ago and now when i turn on my mac the light comes on, but the chime does not sound and the screan stays black and there is nothing i can do except unplug the power cord. When the mac does turn on if it goes into sleep mode it rarely wakes up, i have taken digital performer of the system, (even though there is no reason why this software should be causing these problems), and still the problems percist. Any ideas would be helpful thanks.

Send it in

Those are hardware problems. You need to contact Apple for support on that

hardware...

hey there! like coius already mentioned, this seems like it's a hardware problem. Could be a bad logic board or processor. You could try to reseat processors and graphics card and reset the PMU, if you didn't try that already!

ps: cat's are a mens best friend... not dogs!

...err...

resetting pmu: pull out power supply plug, open side access door, take away translucent panel, pull out lower fans (the big ones cooling the cpu's) then press the tiny little button where it says "PMU RESET" once. wait 10 seconds, then attach power again and try to boot up.

reseating CPU and graphics card: take 'em out and take 'em in again, thats it. if you don't know how, search the internet for descriptions on how to do that (don't have any url's in mind, sorry)

good luck , chris

It was just a joke...

but seriously,
you might want to stop using those abbreviations... I'm not sure if it will get you banned, but
for some reason, it makes people believe you are a cough syrup junkie...

I've seen some pretty mean posts about them, doesn't bother me too much, I just picked up on that... apparently, and I'm only guessing here... its not cute.

I hope you find a solution to your issues... the fritter forums are the most excellent place to find such things!
