Is there any way to set the default number of replies per page to more than 90? Preferably, it'd be on a user-by-user basis, but I'd accept a change to the universal default as well. 500 posts per page seems about right . . .
I ask because of the PEx thread, which having gotten over 90 posts now breaks to a second page. Every time I go to any new posts I'brought to the first page and have to manually scroll to the bottom and hit the 'next page' link to get to the second page. Also, when posting new content, only the first page appears after posting, I have to scroll and click to get back to where I was before I posted.
eh?

well? any hope?
HC's "PowerExpress Revisited" thread has topped 200 replies, and every time I go to read the latest in the saga I have to scroll to the bottom and click the link to the latest page.
Isn't there some way to set a default to specify how many replies per page? As in a larger number than 90?
This ain't a major issue, but still, it ought to be molto facile to fix, no?

After long nights
Of caffeine and code
Sometimes, if he's in the mood
And if you're avatar amuses him
A code gnome may come
It's true
The flaw is trivial
Maybe this is why it's never corrected?
But if the thread is bumped at the right time
It can be bad for your bugs health
The code gnome knows no sleep
Only rest and solace in code
And jitteriness in caffeine
But at the end of the day
He might just go out and get sunburnt
Try this: http://www.applefritter.com/node/6148&comments_per_page=200 and adjust the amount of comments at the end as needed. It is also possible to start after any number of posts, but if you mess up and someone replied to an early post, you're back to square one, being tht it'll be marked read before it even shows it to you. THat's a bug in Drupal. It should be smart enough to know if it has shown you a post or not. It seems to take the easy route and mark all posts "read" after the first viewing of the thread, even if the new posts are not in the current set to display.
whadda I gotta do, bookmark the bloody thread? Why can't the thread just show all replies? I mean, there's gotta be somewhere that 90 number is set, no? Is this a Drupal issue, or a setup issue, or a programming issue?
Heh heh, the PEx thread is now at 200, so how about setting the default to 500 replies?!?!
dan k
It's entirely possible I didn't make myself clear. There's now a setting for 250 comments per page. Default is, as always, still at 50. Just change and save the settings below the first post.

heh heh, errrr . . . I didn't see that pesky lil' popup for setting '## replies per page'. Well, and BDub, you didn't actually mention it either . . .
In any case, thanks!
BTW, is that a global setting or does it stick to that thread only?
dan k
Meh, I was feeling creative. Thought I'd write about the code gnome for a bit.
So far as I know, it's global.
