I have a problem with my c500. When I got it, he hd was blank, and then the hd died. Now my machine won't see the new hd no matter what version of Drive Setup i use. Any help would be very appreciated. I am trying to use Mac OS 9.1 on it.

Can you be a little more specific?
What brand of drive are you using? Is it SCSI or IDE?
What versions of Drive Setup have you used?
Is the drive recognized when booting off of a Mac OS 8 or 9 CD?
How is the drive currently partitioned?
If you can answer some or all of those questions, it'll be much easier to help you find a solution.

I haven't tried to get OS 9 on my c500 yet, but I'd wager that it should work. The stock HDD is IDE, so if you stick somethingin the range of 1-6GB it should work fine. Is your OS 9 disc a generic install disc, or is it specific to a certain Mac model?
Have you tried to use a different HD? If not, try it. If you need one, go to goodwill or some place like that.
1) What brand of hard disk are you trying to add? If it is a Western Digital and that is the only drive on the cable, take the drive jumper off of the drive. For some reason, WD drives that are by themselves are treated as Single drives, not as a Master. I just added one to my file server (a PC), and ran into that very problem.
2) Have you tried a different ribbon cable? For something with no moving parts, they seem to wear out.
Maybe it crashed...
