a whole 36 minutes and on one responded - hard to believe!

I may be misunderstanding your question here, but an SE/30 will display color only on an external monitor (with something like the Micron Xceed card). The internal monitor will change from black-and-white to grayscale, but not color, even though the SE/30's mobo supports color Quickdraw.

I would think you'd need a whole new analog board to make the SE/30 display color on its built-in monitor.
