I have a 333 MHz imac with OS 9.2. I booted it up after a couple days being shut off and it seemed to boot normally but after about 10 minutes I heard the hard drive spin up then down and then it froze. I couldn't turn it off with the keyboard so I had to shut it off with the power button. I then tried to start it again and I got the blinking ? mark and folder icon. I then inserted the original recovery cd and it booted up. I tried to run disk firstaid but the hard drive wasn't recognized. After that I shut it down and left it turned off for two hours and it booted from the hard drive again. I then ran disk firstaid and it said the disk had no errors. Acouple minutes later it froze again after the hard drive spinning up and then down. I've went through this same process several times and get the same result. Does anyone have any suggestions, pleeeese help me.

after that, backup your data, the Hd is toast. If you put it in the freezer, do it for about 20min. a then take it out and hook it up to the computer right away. That should loosen up the drive to the platters enough to get the data.
Do you really think this will work and do you know anyone who has done this?
If the competer's warrenty is up, which it probably is, take off the drive label and tighten the screws.
And usually with success. I know someone in professional data recovery, and they have a freezer just for the purpose
I've done that too, to get a brief access to drives that crapped out after they heated up. But one doesn't have much time, either to pull critical data off, or to get away with this trick at all before the drive totally dies.
In some cases, I did this in the winter and left the drive outside the front door on the porch while I accessed it.
And what exactly is that suppost to accomplish?
