I recently bought a IIe LC card for just a few dollars, yet to use it though. Surprised to read that it should work on a Performa 6200, it being PPC and all - I guess the PDS slots must happen to be the same. Good deal, as my first Mac, a 6200, is still waiting for me in storage.
I need an AppleII computer in my studio now, to run a special program which needs serial port access. It can supposedly run on the old Apple IIe software emu, but I've not tried that. Anybody have any luck getting the card to use the host serial ports? I love AppleII computers too, but my studio is crowded with computers as it is, I'd rather not need to make a fly AppleII box just to occaisionally run a single application.
Any comments would be gratefully appreciated!

The 6200 has the same slot but the Apple II card won't work in any Power PC Mac. The Apple II card isn't compatible with 32 bit addressing and in the 6200 you can't turn 32 bit addressing off.
You can find a list of compatble Macs at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=8458

That is what I would have guessed. My experience is that Apple downplays the compatability of their products, to avoid awkward support issues. But, of course, 68k vs PPC is a big step. I read about 6200 and 6300 being compatable on somebody's page, but I don't have the URL handy now. As usual, I won't believe it works until I do it for real. Since I don't have room for a new Mac or ][ now, I will try.
Are there PPC machines on which 32 bit addressing can be switched off?

Probably just someone that took a list of computers that have LC slots and thought that made them IIe card compatible. As far as I know there's no PPC Macs that allow you to turn off 32 bit addressing, there's even some 040 Macs that won't let you turn it off. I wish there was, my IIe card resides in a chipped 575 board in a Color Classic.
