I have PowerComputing PowerCenter 120 that I would like to run X on but it is too slow. The PowerCenter uses a similar MB as the PowerMacintosh 7200 .PM me.

Hey,
Don't be so sure about trans-compatibility of clones to Macs. Do your homework. I checked Sonnet's site and the list includes PowerCenters but not 7200s. The 7200 is not part of the 7300, 7500 family. It's an odd duck. So your upgrade should be for the clone itself and not something that may seem similar.
A G3 Upgrade that I thought would work with My PCC PowerBase, but does not because of the Video Chip is not on the compatibility list. So It boots up to a black screen. I know it works on the 6360/6400, but does not work on my machine.
If I get a PCI video card will it still be a problem?
That is on the "compatible" list. The L2 Cache G3 Upgrade that I have only works with rare video cards and most of, when you do find them, are upwards of $70 USD (because of the rarity.
According to Sonnet's Web site and Other World Computing's Web site, among other places, the PowerCenter takes a regular "PCI" upgrade card. That's the same sort of upgrade card that the 7300-9600 series Macs take.
Coius' L2-G3 card for the 6400 (and similar Macs) will not work in a PowerCenter.
The good news is that these PCI G3 (and G4, for that matter) cards, are among the most reasonably priced of all the various types of G3/G4 upgrades out there. And, they have few if any video problems - in other words, you can use them with onboard video and with just about any Mac-compatible PCI video card.
Best,
Matt
the point that I was trying to make is that some of the clones do not function as well as the original macintosh the g3 upgrades are for. Sorry about not making that clear. I most've been half-asleep when I posted that. (smacks hand upside the head *Duh!!*)
