I'm getting my old Beige G3 back and I am wondering how to disable the memory test as the machine has 256MB RAM and it takes like almost 5 minutes to do the RAM test.
I know it can be done in OF, but I've never been able to boot into OF on the Beige. Anyone know how and walkthorughs?
Thanks
Hi,
Under OS9 I beleive you hold down "apple" and "option" while you go into the Memory control panel.
Thank you,

The test should not take that long for such a small amount of memory.
Dr Bob is right. I have a Beige G3 with 320 MB RAM and the memory test is much less than a minute (10-20 seconds max?). You might make sure that you have a start-up disk selected. Also , if you used XPostFacto to load Panther on it, I wonder if one of those settings is responsible for slow boot times.
I've never ever seen this ram test...is it a newish function? I only ever ran systems 7 - 10.2...
You don't ever see it, it's done in the background, but it can cause the mac to take longer to start up.

Definately something else wrong.
My beige with Panther via Xpostfacto boot's with 320MB RAM in about a minute. I have an old clone with 1GB of RAM and it only takes a couple of minutes to boot.
Booting into firmware is command-option-O-F but not sure what else you'll need to do. Try a mac google search for it:
