My B&W 300 (overclocked to 350) with 192MB RAM runs 10.3.7 rather decently. It's no speed demon, and my AlBook could eat it for lunch, but it's bearable.
ok thanx, but i always wanted to know how do u overclock and will it kill your cpu faster or anything?
First hit on a Google search (hint, hint) for "overclock B&W G3" is this.
i just tried overclocking my beige and it used to be 266 but now its 350
man i gutta do this to my b/w.
thanx
I overclocked my b/w 350 chip to a 450 and its rock stable (in a beige with a heatsink and fan though).
so you mean if i over clock my b/w it probably wont be as stable in os x ?
Depends on how far you overclock it. With my B&W, I could only bump it 50MHz, from a 300 to a 350. At 400MHz the machine wouldn't even boot.
Others have reported that some overclocks are rock-stable, and others make the machine unstable. It really depends on your machine...no two B&Ws will overclock identically.
A great place to look for info on this is over at xlr8yourmac.com.
thats were i got info on my beige. currently i have it overclocked to 315mhz any farther than that will not boot.
My beige with the overclocked 350 to 450 will run for weeks on end with no reboots and never crashes. It is as stable as any computer that I have.
do you have it on 7.x, 8.x, 9.x or 10.x?
I normally leave it on 10.2.8 long term but once in a while i will reboot into 9.2.1.
