An object that the AP (or one of the other global news distributers) reported as the 10th planet the other day. Slow news day I guess. Its pretty questionable if you read about it, and I doubt any science books are going to be rewritten over it.
Sol is one of many poetic names for the sun, its also the one favored in sci fi.

Sedna will reach perihelion on June 22, 2076 at a distance of 75.789 AU (7,048,377,000 miles) from the Sun. The next time it will come around at that distance will be some time around the year 12,600. The closest it will get to Earth will be on December 27, 2076 at a distance of 74.817 AU
Sedna is in way to elliptical orbit to actually be a planet. The orbit is something you'd find from a comet or asteroid. I doubt it will be too long before they begin to believe it's little more than a large asteroid.
What I find strange is that they report a 10th planet every few years, it then slips into oblivion and everyone forgets about it. It's pretty much like Pluto, it isn't really a planet per se, it's just the biggest bit of debris we've found out there in the Kuiper belt

About finding the 10th planet every few years: Its funny, but when i was young (around 1978 or so) I vaguely remember reading that they found a 10 planet past pluto back then. I don't remember any details about it but I just remember learning something about it in class (must have been like 5th or 6th grade). I have noticed the same thing, that they seem to find a new 10th planet every few years. Odd.
