This is another clear ibook. Personally I like my design very much. The touch pad is kinda new.
Here is picture of the top:
and here is the outside:
the touch-pad:
The touch-pad is just glued into the case. I pulled it out and took on the original cover off. You can pretty much stick anything you want to it.
.. and it glowing in the mirror:
I took quite a bit of metal shielding off and have not noticed any increase in temperature, although it's probably not in compliance with fcc anymore. Oh well.
The shielding isnt for heat. Its for EMI, and not just to keep it from getting out, but allso to keep it from getting in. As other devices can cause havok with its internal workings. What did you use to remove the paint? And did it mar the case at all?
How exactly do you remove the trackpad ? Is it just pushed off _very_carefully_ and then glued back ? What kind of glue do you use ?
I removed the paint with isopropyl alcohol. I left the top cover sit for about a day and it did mar slightly. The bottom turned out just find.
Yes.. I was also worried that they'd be used to dissipate some heat. I left the sheild around the graphics card because of that. I've been using it for about a month and have no problems as far as.. well, anything.
I did not use any glue. I swung the button out of the way and gently pushed up until the touchpad pealed off the case. I then pealed the "skin" of it off. The glue that's used stuck the the traces of the touchpad and not the skin. I just replaced it with something else and stuck the whole thing back together again.
