I know there is the occasional light source, but is there anything else that can be done to the G5 case?

It used to be part of the Hacks FAQ, before we swapped forums. It's the best hack ever.
To quote one of Applefritter's more creative members:

Probably won't start seeing any permanent type hacks 'till the warranties start wearing out. That's a lot of cash to be putting out.
The G5 case is anodized aluminum like the PowerBooks, right? Well, why not remove the anoodizing, polish to a mirror finish, then toss on some clear coat to keep it from tarnishing. That would be sick, and i think someone has allready done it to one of the new 'books.
Adding a second optical drive? I don't know.
I have a fully functional Digital Audio G4 running inside a G5 case. In the process of making a site for it, when I have it done I will post it up. As formodding a G5 in a G5 case. You cant do much internally. The case is full of has sensors all over. As for the outside, well... The thought crossed my mind of having the case anodyzed a different color then silver. I may do that some day down the road. But for now the base silver looks just fine.
I always wanted to get it anodized in the metalic blue alluminum colour...
how did you get your hands on an empty G5 case to stick a G4 into. And why? Isn't that like taking a BMW 6-series and putting a 3-series engine into it?
The original case was getting FAR to hot inside. Also was getting very loud because of the added fans to try and keep it cool.

its mostly done now, just a few things left.
As for the case... I have sources
The reason no-one's modded a G5 yet, is cuz if it goes slightly wrong, thats $2000+ down the drain. Plus, inside the case isnt very good for modding. Theres only room for 2 HDs (I had 4 in my G4), 1 optical drive (I put a flashed Audigy in my G4), and there's barly any room inside. Ignore the pictures, once you put stuff in it, it fills v v v quickly, because of the size of the motherboard.
Outside case stuff isn't done because it's hard to find anything that'll fit the motherboard, as a replacement in case you screw up. And theres no point in doing the overclocking and stuff that goes on with everything else, because its so unbeleivably, hold-on-tight, blown-away, there-it-goes-again... fast. Theres little room for improvement except the case, which is hidious, huge (I could probably fit half of Cambridge into it with a little help), a static magnet, I could go on forever.
I still say it would be übersweet to see it polished to a mirror finish & clearcoated.
Something one guy I know was thinking of, was to do the iMac G5, iMac G3 style. He was going to find the biggest CRT he could find, put an LCD in it, and put the G5 bits in the rest of the space. Until he realsised that he couldn't get a monitor big enough to fit the motherboard in.
