Hi, I'm trying to debug my II Europlus with only 48k ram. I have a Booti and tried to run some disk images with the apple resseler test disk on them, but all images I found required 64k of ram. I'm pretty sure than one or more memory chip are bad, as I got the information that the chip 7fff-000 (01) is bad when running this simple test from the monitor:
C050 C053 C054 C057 N 265:FF N 266<265.BFFEM 266<265.BFFEV 265:0 N 266<265.BFFEM 266<265.BFFEV 34:14
my problem it that I have absolutelly no idea how to locate the bad chip with this information.
Did anyone know if there is out there a working disk image usable with the booti and with only 48k of ram to test the memory?
Thanks
Yes, use the Apple ][ RAM test Utility v1.4. At the bottom of the page be sure to download the DOS 3.3 floppy image. It only requires 48K.
Thanks!
I tried, but the booti don't like it. I got this error:

Booti can only use ProDOS images. A dos 3.3 image won't work.
ok, but I have the same result with the prodos disk version
Hi,
Can you post the result of the test using the monitor command in your fisrt post ?
Antony
here it is:
It's the same address that come in a row, but in a different position, don't know if it's matter. And I don't know how to find what is the corresponding chip phyisically. Thanks :-)

Can't you get a hold of something that would run DOS 3.3 .dsk images, like a floppy emulator or a CFFA3000 card?
I think you have a bad ram in the Row E.
What if you swap the first and last ram chip in the row E and run the ram test again, does the error change from 01 to 80.
All ProDOS versions require 64K.
Your Booti won't work in a 48K machine because it only handles ProDOS images.
Good point... ProDOS would be pretty limited even if you could make it run on 48k... not much RAM left to do anything else.
Thanks to all for your inputs!

You're right, many thanks! I borrowed a memory chip to a friend and changed this one, and now the test complete without error, this was the defect one.
@baldrick
very good information, thanks! This explain certainly why I have this error message each time i try to boot something. I ordered a 16k expansion board to have 64k in total. I will try and report if the Mobo is working or if something else is defect.
Thanks :-)
