problems with OS X 10.2.x and a Beige G3 AIO

Ok OS X runs fine but i was wondering why the built in mic dont work, i am wondering why the 2 ear phone jacks on the front will output sound but wont shut off the main speakers when earphones are plugged in the one on the back works fine and shuts the main speakers down, and why dont the volume buttons on the front work when pressed in OS X. all this stuff works fine in Os 9.2.2 but is broke in OS X 10.2 or 10.2.8 is there any way to get this stuff to workin OS X. i think it was screwie of apple to support the beige G3 under 10.2.x but fail to realize that all beige G3 have personality cards what a mess on apples part

I think you've answered your own question.;)

Apple's claim that OS X (yes, only up to version blah, blah) is supported on the Beige G3/AIO is a bit of a half-truth.

There have been a number of threads recently of people complaining about the lack of compatibility between OS X and their personality cards, though until now I thought it was just video on the Wings card that was not working.

do what I did.

put a subwoofer (independant) on the front speaker lead out (the headphone jacks on the front) and use that to your advantage. I use the internal AIO speakers, and the Subwoofer (made by CA) in combined, and set iTunes with the EQ, and i have 1 great MP3 player machine. I can control the power on the Bass that let's me be able to set the Ration of Bass/per speaker volume output.

there is a problem with that

there is a problem with that cause since the AIO is my main machine and my cousin is in the same room i use the 2 fromt ear phone jacks so only i can hear the sound. the jack in the back is a bit to far to hook my head phone up to. the mic dont work nor does the volume buttons could the personality wings card be the reason they arnt working is there a way to make software or a extention to get the wings card working 100% or close to it so i can get the mic, volume button, 2 front headphone jacks working. i dont really care about the video input in OS X cause i still run OS 9.2.2 and everything funtions perfictly under OS 9.2.2 it sorda pushes me away from OS X cause of that fact that apple cares less for there older hardware. i love Mac and all but dont like how apple does there buisness on how they implament there OS so you have to buy a new Mac just to run OS X tiger. yea there is xpostfacto but that isnt the same as installing it nativly. They should have made all of the OS X able to run on the Beige G3 it can be made fast enuff to run tiger well yea it didnt come with a usb or firewire port but it can be added.

extender

Get a 3.5mm stereo headphone extender cable from Radio Shack or any local electronics/audio shop, and plug that into the rear port. Run it under/beside the AIO to the front where you can access it.
