My name is Jose coloma. I own a Macintosh Performa 550, I have used this computer for a pretty long time and it was great. I was living in New Orleans at the time of Hurricane Katrina, I was forced to evacuate and left everything at my apartment and even though the computer didn't get wet at all, it's not working at all, when I plug the computer I can hear a sound like it wants to start, but none of the lights come on and that's it it doesn't do anything else. I had accumulated a lot of personal work, I am a musician and I had made a lot midi work that unless I get this computer to work, is lost forever. Could you please help me find a solution?, either repair, or replace, adapt or anything to save my work? Any sugestions will be very welcome, as I am struggling to try to rebuild my musician life, which includes the ability to make my work available to me. That would be greatly appreaciated, I know how to get the hard disk out of the 550, what would be the best way to do this?, swap the disk to the 475? are there any compatibility issues there?..also let me know what to do to get it from you.thanks!

I don't think that there will be any problems with you using the hd from the 550, unless you are still running system 7.1. If you are, I can send you a boot disk for the cost of shipping that should do the trick.
