eMail servers

I need some help. Maybe someone here would know. Im looking for a simple free, and easy to use email server. It only needs to support a few users and doesnt have to have any advanced features. Anyone know of one that i can get. Im running a g4 dual processor with os 10.3.9

Postfix Enabler

I used this to help me set up my mail server easily for the parents business. It's just a small server (~25 users) that I didn't want to spend time on and wanted to be easy to add/remove users.

It was worth the 10 dollars. Under Classic, I've had good luck with Eudora Internet Mail Server, but under OS X, I like this.

Edit

I should also mention that I paid via Paypal which normally takes several days to go through since it's drawing from an account of mine. The fellow sent me an activation code within a few hours rather than wait for payment to go through. This was the kind of guy who makes me want to buy shareware.

SIMS

aka Stalker Internet Mail Server. SIMS was Stalker's mainstay until Communigate came of age, then SIMS was put out to pasture & made available for free. I've been using it to serve for 40 plus users for about three years now, running on a G3-enabled 9600, but it'll run quite well on much lesser hardware. I think some guys even have it running in Classic mode on OS X machines. Easy setup, web-based configuration, easy maintenance... Even though it's a dead-end product with no updates coming from Stalker, there is an active user base with a mailing list that provides really decent support.

You can read about it and download it here.

SIMS was good too, I think I dumped it for EIMS over some configuration option that seemed horribly vital at the time.

EIMS was ok from what I remember (it's been a while since I looked at it) but there was something in SIMS that made me choose it over EIMS. The beautiful thing with SIMS is how simple it is to set up & maintain. It's all classic Mac simplicity. There are some finer points in tweaking it to do specialized things that get a bit tricky, but for basic mail service it couldn't be easier. It's support of real-time blacklists is great for keeping incoming spam to a minimum, plus it can be set up to prevent relaying so that users can access it from outside the network.

My SIMS machine has been running beautifully for so long, but unfortunately the plug is going to be pulled on it soon; it's used for a non-profit group, and one of the users (a Winders geek) just HAS to be able to share his Outlook calendar with his secretary, so he talked some poor donor to pony up for an Exchange server. Thankfully I'm fairly ignorant of the server side of the Windows world, so they've got someone else to set up and administer that thing. I'm betting he spends 5 to 10 times the amount of time (purely volunteer basis) I ever spent on SIMS.

Sigh. I guess that's what you call progress.
