Really weird laptop behaviour

Win XP, Firefox, NEC Versa P600

When I open a few tabs at once in Firefox (which is normally how I read these forums and others) the screen instantly goes black and nothing but a reboot brings it back. WTF?

Weird indeed. Hows the RAM?

Weird indeed. Hows the RAM? Does any other somewhat intensive work do the same thing?

I don't like using most any other browser any more now that FF does tabs and automatic session save/restore without any plug-ins. Life is much easier when the same 5 sites you visit daily open every time you launch the browser.

The only thing I can think of

The only thing I can think of is there's some secret NEC key sequence that I'm accidentally triggering by ctrl-clicking so many times in quick succession.

Huh. Could you be accidental

Huh. Could you be accidentally hitting Fn instead of Ctrl? And then you end up hitting something like the LCD/CRT swap button or some such?

Maybe brushing the Fn. Not h

Maybe brushing the Fn. Not hitting anything else but the mouse button, and there was a CRT plugged in.

I'm starting to suspect it ha

I'm starting to suspect it has something to do with the memory leaks in Firefox. It's been crashing so much on another machine (without blanking the screen/hanging the computer) that I've moved to Opera
