Powerbook 150: Popping noise at bootup

I had bought a PowerBook 150 off of eBay recently, and everything was working great. I had left it in sleep mode for a while, and now it won't boot. It just makes a popping noise, and occasionally an 8-tone chime. This isn't the first time it happened, but the first time it had seemingly fixed itself.
Help is appreciated!

The "8-tone chime" might be the death chime. If that's the case, it may just be a donor now.

Mactracker gives all the specs and info on every Mac since the original 1984 Macintosh. One cool feature is the startup chime and death chime for each machine. You can download Mactracker from www.mactracker.ca and look up your model. Is the death chime for the PB150 the same chime you're hearing at startup?

Unfortunately, it appears to be the death chime. Interestingly enough, the death chime only occurs occasionally. Most of the time, the speaker just makes the same popping noise it would make if you were to push the reset button. I tried Apple's reset procedure, and that didn't help either. Another thing to note is that this isn't the first time it's happened. Just a few days ago, a similar popping noise issue had occurred, then suddenly, when I was looking for solutions, I heard the death chime. I pushed the button in the back and the machine booted. This time, though, that doesn't appear to be happening.. I'll probably sell it for parts an see if I could replace it with, perhaps, a desktop Mac. After all, I just bought a compatible printer (Color Stylewriter 1500), and I wouldn't want the printer to collect dust.

By some work of magic, I got it to turn on!

intermittency is caused by bad connections, and also bad capacitors.
