Gorgon is keyboard only

Unless you have a hacked version, Gorgon only supports the keyboard.

A, Z, Left Arrow, and Right Arrow to move.

Space to fire.

B to refuel at base.

Esc to pause.

Ctrl+S toggle sound.

Ctrl+R to restart.

You might be able to find Windows software that can map gamepad inputs to keypresses, such as JoyToKey.

Darn.No wonder I was

Darn.

No wonder I was struggling.

I tried JoyToKey, works great.

Either I suck at the game, or my controls aren't right, or my emulator is not set right, but driving the ship around is very erratic.

I tried auto-repeat on the a, z, left and right, it is better, but still erratic.

Any suggestions?

It's a very difficult game

It's a very difficult game and the keyboard is often terrible for action games, especially if it targets the Apple II Plus. The Apple IIe introduced a keyboard feature that improves things a bit.

Similar games for the Apple II are Defender (Atarisoft), Defender (Joe Holt), Stargate, Aquatron, and Repton. Good luck!
