After my ASCII Keyboard Tester I am more and more curious to understand the actual workings of the Apple-1 (and ][).

I was going to guess 'Keyboard enhancer', but looking at it more closely and with some of the IC's your using, it's looking more like some kind of multiplexed display of some sort.
Also for @nijssen, I've got a little surprise for you forthcoming ... based on your previously released keyboard tester ...
