It figures
I've gotten the new 36mg ram for my duo. I have a newer larger hdd too. The other two things I need are an os 8 disk and an torx-8 driver. I don't actually have one of those. Doh!
I found a cheap scsi cable and a slot loading 50 pin scsi dvd/cdrom drive. Oh and an external scsi terminator.
And just today realized that I have a working scsi zip drive and all manner of zip 100 disks.
I was out in the barn rummaging around for a hdd hopeful, didn't find it, but I did find two old global village modems, enough extra serial cables to local talk to 2 other macks, a null modem cable, and an ethernet twisted pair tranceiver. I love finding useful loot in my stash.
Now I can "maybe" get that old se up to some usefull degree of aptitude around here.
I'm thinking of going to a UW surplus auction tommorrow just to see how much I'd need to save up in order to acctually win a bid.
Then I'm over to test my own penny pinching fortitude at Boeing Surplus.
Heh, I recently realised, my son's godparents get the employee/retiree discount. Which is cool, cause if I schedule it I might get one of them to go with me.:)
Life is good. Even if I don't have the driver I need.
