Ipod not responding and Windows does not recognizes ipod

I was upgrading the software on my 15g ipod and during the update process the ipod got disconnected from windows. Now I can't reset it, windows will not recognize ipod. I tired resetting it by pressing 'menu' and 'hold' buttons as per Apple ipod support instructions. Now I am posting my problem here and see if any one can help. ::)
