Something is WRONG.

When you quit, the story game is saved at the start of the game you were on. This means that if you quit just at the end of a plot (ie when it's changing to the next character), you have to replay that game.

ah, that's strange.

it sounds like for some reason it thinks you've completed the story at that point (which it hasn't). It's either some funky bug caused by saving the game at that particular point, or a damaged prefs file that's giving an odd result.

That's really interesting, because yesterday I spent about 4 hours unlocking stuff and today when I went back to continue, I had no saved game. Made a new one today and tested it (by quitting and starting again) and there's no problems. Only thing I noticed that was weird are background pic problems like the main menu showing before and after the wipe transition to the main menu and the little girl's earth cottage background became the island background after my 4th or so attempt at the Choosy game. Whatever it was, the save game wasn't there. Not sure if the pref file still existed as I had already cried and started a new game before thinking of that.

interesting. Someone emailed with a problem of not being able to save and it turned out it was some APE extension that protects against apps writing things (I don't use APE, so I'm not sure of the details). I'll see if I can find the email.

There are definitely some problems appearing with the current save system. As the game is only saved with the preferences when you quit Airburst Extreme, if you crash or force quit for some reason, you'll lose everything you gained in that session. I'm going to be adding an automatic prefs save at certain points in the upcoming update.

This happens to me too, with the choosy game.... at first I thought it was part of the game, but after I started and restarted the game I was always at the same place and could never really move forward from that point. I had already acquired the game and Pook but was still stuck in teh loop. I was bummed when I found that I couldn't go any farther in the story game until there was an update or something. And I don't want to have to start over, I already did once.

There is a choice to continue a saved game you have or to start a new one, when I accidentally started a new game in that option menu it erased all the progress I had made before and erased my saved game, is there any way to change that option so that it starts a new game and does not erase the game you chose to begin with.

When you select a saved game to play, you get the option to start a new game or continue with the game on that save point. If you want to start a new game but keep your saved games safe, simply select a different save slot to play.

I just spent about 6 hours on Airburst last night, and what I have to show for it is being on the fourth or fifth mission of BCM's string

First time, got Pook. Quit. Come back, and BCM time again. Second time, get to the Mars Cooperation Boss guy. Leave to menu tentatively, make sure that I got all the characters I got, carefully quit, restart, nothing.

EEEEEHK!! I am actually going -crazy- and I CAN'T go through and play all of that again! If anyone has a save file that is up to the final boss or past, can you please email it to me? phillryu@Mac.com

so basically, your preferences file isn't getting saved at any point ?

couple of things to try..

1) if you create a file called debug.txt (a blank text file) in the ABE folder, it will record various bits of debug info, including when the game thinks it's saving prefs etc. This might give some clues

2) *****SPOILER****** until the update is available (still working on it) there are some cheats

Thanks, it saved the multiplayer fun, but I guess I'll still have to replay everything eventually if I want the stuff legit.

Not that it wasn't fun then, but really, for the third time, kinda sucks.
