Apple III Monochrome Display

I want an excellent condition Apple III monitor monochrome display. I bought one on ebay that came with an Apple IIe I bought and the display is too dim and I think it is defective. I remember the display as being rather bright when I was kid. Ebay charges $150+ for these monitors and there is no way to know their conditions from the webpage. Where can I get one for a fair price? How could I fix/troubleshoot the one I have? Does anyone have one they want to sell?

This should be in the "Wanted

If you are looking for a new one, this should be in the"wanted to buy" forum. Assuming you have already tried adjusting brightness/contrast settings, your other options are gamble on eBay again, FB marketplace, Craig's list, or some other site like mercari. Or if there is a vintage computing club in your area, you could check with them. Small chance a recap or maybe cleaning the brightness/contrast controls could help. But the tube could also just be tired depending on how many hours are on it. Which eventually all CRTs will fall victim to.
