Noob questions.

I picked up an Apple IIgs for fun (had one as a kid). I have the GS, monitor and a 3.5" floppy drive. Installed is a 256k memory card. nothing else. I have downloaded the 6.01 operating system for it. Anyways i have a few questions. I did some research but to be honest I am not sure I am searching for the right topics. Or I am and not finding it.

My questions are:

1. Is there a way to make put the disk image files of the OS on a floppy using a usb floppy drive and my current generation macbook pro? or should i just order them on disk already? I have found instructions on using the disk utility but the current version does not seem to support doing floppy disks.

2. where is the operating system installed? Do i still need some kind of storage device like the CF card reader i have found online in order to install the OS?

Thank you for your time.

No, unless you had a 1.44MB SuperDrive for the Apple IIgs. Your USB floppy drive most likely cannot write 800K double-sided disks for the Apple.

Yes, and you can ask around and someone in the community will probably send them as a Christmas gift.

You can run the system entirely from floppy disks. I did that for many years. It is much nicer to have a mass storage device, however.
