Hello all,
In the distant past I had sold my Apple ][+ clone. I don't have many regrets in my life but selling my Apple is certainly one of them. Recently I've bought an Apple //e with a Duo Disk drive and an Apple /// monitor. I am really over the moon with my purchase. Since then I've bought another Apple //e (mostly for the monitor A2M2010); I still need to pick this one up. This past weekend I've bought myself an Apple //c which also still needs to be picked up. I'm still in the market for a printer and an Apple //c monitor stand.
So here are my questions...
1) I noticed that at the front of the Apple //e on the bottom plate there is a switch. This switch leads to J19 on the mainboard (right between the RAM and Keyboard ROM). I am unfamiliar with this switch. What does it do?
2) I'd like to buy 2 mono Jack kabel 3.5mm for ADTPro. I can only find them in 2.5 mtr (8.2 ft) and 3 mtr (9.8 ft). Would these lengths affect the data sent over the cables?
3) Somebody is selling an ImageWriter II (A9M0310Z). He says its for a MAC. Will it work with a //c or do I need a special kabel?
Thank you very much and I will certainly picking your brains more info in the near future.
Best regards,

Yes it will work on your IIc. Yes you will need a mini-DIN to DIN-8 cable.
Thanks you, Dog Cow. I take it these don't come standard with the printer?

Ah! Fantastic. That explains it then, and why I never saw one on the Apple of my friend from the U.S. Thank you for enlighting me.
No, they're decidedly non-standard. The Apple IIc was the only model of Apple to use the old-fashioned DIN-8 ports. From the IIc Plus, the IIgs, and all the Macintosh models after the SE, Apple used mini-DIN.
There is an Apple-branded cable. It will probably be difficult to find. I don't have it. It's called the "Apple IIc to ImageWriter cable."
This is it:

Not likely.
Stereo 3.5mm cables work too, in case you find one that is shorter than the mono cables.
There are two Imagewriter IIs and one Imagewriter (I) on the Dutch version of ebay. And wouldn't you know it, they are all for MACs. I might get one of those cables from your link but I'd much rather get everything from the Apple brand.
Thank you again Dog Cow. I did read about how it can be hard to get the transfer over the audio cables right and that one may need to set the balance all to one side. I thought I'd get around that by simply getting mono cables. But if the length can have a negative affect on the transfer I can settle for stereo.
Many thanks again for your guidance.

I gave that link to show you the picture of what the cable looks like.
The cable length is almost certainly not a problem, from what you have said so far. But if you had a 15 meter cable, now that might be a problem!
Ah yes, and it is very handy. Thank you for that.
Thanks, I will order the mono cables today.
