This is a Prototype Color Classic II that I own. It is in full working order. I am curious as to what it's worth. Also, any questions or comments about it would be appreciated.

Re: Prototype Color Classic II

RM,

Way Cool.
I have not seen one of these for auction up on eBay, although I have seen several CCII's up in the last six months with various starting prices ranging from $50.00 and up(Fully Functional) and $25.00 and up (Not working or Needs Repair).
If this is a fully functional Prototype with some sort of background information and matching Keyboard / Mouse combination, you may just have a gem on your hands. Smile

Re: Prototype Color Classic II

I've personally seen one (possibly a color classic) at a local shop before I knew it was a prototype, and seen several pictures online. I've been kind of watching for them a little bit ever since. I've seen several (again probably just the color classic) sell for around $500 years ago, but nothing recently.

These pictures seem to be the same pictures as these: http://applefritter.com/node/1838. If it's that one, and my memory is right, I think that one sold later on ebay for around $3000, Probably 2007 or earlier. which to me seemed like too much.

I've seen several of the clear prototype TiBooks, newtons, and things like sell for up to $1000, although if I were to guess the color classic II would be more rare, so I'd be quite sure it's worth more than $1000 (I'd probably even give $1000 for it!), probably more than the $3000 this one (or one like it) sold for several years ago, but with collectors of these kinds of rare things, you never know. I don't know who collects this kind of stuff, it's neat, but there's not the history with this like there would be with some of the early Macs, or things that ended up never getting released.

My guess based on watching similar items, would be $4000-$8000. I'm really curious though, If you ever do end up selling it or getting any offers, to figure out what it might be worth, I'd be very interested to know.

Re: Prototype Color Classic II

This is the same green Color Classic II that was on these boards before as mentioned by SMIGGLY. I still own it. It seems to be one of the first prototypes because all of the important chip upgrades have hand notation on them. I got it from a Apple engineer in California for $50 + S&H! That was back in the 90's. It came with the standard keyboard and mouse for a machine from 1993. Sorry, no matching green accesories!

I saw this ONE in 2004. I think it went for $3000 back then. I think mine is even more rare due to the hand written notes on the board and all green case (just my opinion, not based on fact).
