Next time you may consider actually reading Apple's iPod Support area.

and maybe we don't all have hours of free time to spend trying to figure something out everthnink of that ya dumb _____ (fill in the blank with your word of choice)

most people here like respect you know that. not everyone has all the time in the world to troubleshoot other's problems

maybe he could fill in the blank as "you dumb but nice guy"
and they obviously do cause they do that on this site

So it's about 5hrs from your first post, and you figured it out. Great. That's why we request that people do a little work for themselves.

Applefritter FAQ I.2.e:

e. If you have a straight-forward technical question, take a moment to search Applefritter. Try a Google search. If you question can be answered with five minutes of research, it doesn't deserve a post.

As for your comments about time, what makes you think *we* have hous of free time to help people figure out something that was solved with your own easy research? We help when we can, but jeez, we voluteer our help for nothing in return but the possible prospect of getting help for ourselves if we ask for it. (And it's help that is not easily solved by doing our own research)

This is Applefritter, a community of regular people, NOT the paid AppleCare support service.

Oddly enough, most of us don't have hours of free time. I certainly hate my time being wasted by people who are unwilling to use the basic resources provided freely to do their own research.

Incidentally, insulting the server admin is a bad idea. Your account has had posting privileges revoked for one week. If they're not back in a week, drop me a PM and I'll get them sorted out.

Anyone wanting to argue the decision, I'll admit it's pretty arbitrary on my part. Mostly I'm disgusted by the lack of manners shown by the original poster. Feel free to email (warwick@applefritter.com) or PM me with any complaints.

we are a community that helps each other without demanding it in no way shape or form. we do what we can when we can. i may not chime in much with everyone's problems but if i see somthing i know i can help with, then i do. the whole site is free and must be apreciated greatly. respect the users and moderators.

False hope? Did someone do something five minutes after your post that gave you hope? If so, it's not reflected in the post or comments.

At the risk of sounding like an echo, a little patience goes a long way. Panicking and scolding don't earn you any favors. According to your user profile you've been around AF for about 4 weeks; don't expect everybody to jump to your aid just because you post something.

Longevity and previous contributions count for a lot around here. My advice is to stick around a while, learn the culture a little, contribute when & where you can, then when the time comes when you are panicking, you might have earned some friends that will jump to your aid.

I am glad you got your gadget fixed though! Go iPod!
