The Lisa’s user interface was its most innovative feature. Apple spent a lot of time and effort in making this interface workable for computer users. Interface features from previous systems were used as models and improved upon by Apple (such as the one button mouse). Apple also provided original user interface features such as pull-down menus. The “Inventing” paper is a wonderful description of the Lisa’s user interface development. The “Standards” paper (which is very very rare) provides a detailed glimpse into the early days of this interface.
