Lisa History

Lisa’s history is full of many interesting people and facts. These papers attempt to document this history.

The “Microsoft, Apple and Xerox” paper contains a wonderful discussion of the history behind the GUI’s development by Xerox, Apple, and Microsoft from comments by people directly involved in this area: Bruce Horn (Xerox and Apple) and Jef Raskin (Apple). The author of this paper (Every) has most of his facts correct, but I would rely upon Raskin’s and Horn’s comments more so than the author’s for accuracy.

For the most accurate discussion of the Lisa’s history I highly recommend the book “Apple Confidential” by Owen Linzmayer. Owen spent serious time and effort in making this history chronicle Apple’s rise and near fall. He interviewed the key people behind the Lisa and Apple Computer instead of relying on inaccurate descriptions plaguing the world of Apple history books.
